THIS POST IS ABOUT PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITY WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY.
Studies by Undergraduate Researchers at Guelph (SURG) is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed undergraduate journal on campus, published twice yearly. You can see us here: www.uoguelph.ca/~surg. We are seeking photo submissions to serve as artwork for our front cover. The winner, selected from all entries submitted, will have their photo featured on the front cover of SURG, as well as receive a $10 Hospitality Services gift card. We are selecting TWO winners – one for our Fall 2012 edition (to be published December 2012), and one for our Winter 2013 edition (to be published April 2013).
1. One submission per student please! Pick the image you like best.
2. Please email your photo to email@example.com (or contact us if you have any questions). If the attachment for a high quality photo is too big, feel free to reduce image size. If you are selected as a winner, we will contact you and you can submit a higher resolution photo to us via USB.
3. We aren’t looking for a specific theme, so be creative! However, we would prefer a COLOUR photo, and unfortunately, no people can be featured (due to privacy protection laws for online publications).
4. Images are due to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 12th at 11:59 pm. These entries will be considered for both the Fall 2012 and the Winter 2013 contests, and TWO winners will be selected (one for each of the two issues).
Good luck to everyone!

I’m currently a volunteer with the Teenage Parenting Program (TAPPs) run by the YMCA. We are always looking for fun and/or education things to do with the girls to keep them coming to the program and to get new girls to come out. I thought it would be a fun idea to do Christmas portraits of the children for the moms to have, as many cannot afford to get these done professionally.
We were thinking of setting up a small for a Christmas themed set for portraits to be taken of each child. We would really love it if we could find a student who is talented in photography to take these photos for us. The date would be Thursday December 1st for no more than four hours in the evening, although it will not likely take this long to take the pictures. This is a drop in program so we may not know the number of participants exactly. Our best guess is anywhere between 5 and 12 girls.
We thought this would also be a great opportunity for any students looking to add to their portfolio and get some volunteer experience. My self, my supervisors and all the girls would really appreciate anyone who is willing to come out and help us with this.
